January at Lake McDonald

The in and out sunshine at Lake McDonald.

A beautiful sunny January day to take our Lake McDonald triple layer steel wall art piece to the lake shore it was inspired by. Inspired by the stunning peaks of Glacier National Park from the waters of one of our favorite places to kayak.

I (Kelsey) had been watching the Glacier National Park webcams for 2 weeks, for a clear, sunny day we could escape the shop for a little afternoon adventure up to Lake McDonald.

Adventuring in the mountains is what fuels our creativity, our inspiration, our excitement for creating the work we do.

We had had the clouds blanketed over our heads at our home and shop in Columbia Falls for days on end, so low they were touching the tree tops outside our shop. You know, the perfect inversion days if you can get up off the valley floor to get above the clouds.

Lake McDonald had also been socked in with inversions and clouds for just as long.

When we got to a break point mid day on a Wednesday, I checked the webcam, with fingers crossed for a little sunshine and bam! There it was!

Creative Combinations Montana's original art work of a triple layer steel wall art of the Lake McDonald mountains in Glacier National Park on the shore of the lake.

The view point this piece we designed and created from, on the lake shore in Apgar Village near the boat dock.

“Nate!! It’s time to go NOW! There are only a couple clouds on the tops of the peaks around the lake! Let’s bring the triple layer!” The Lake McDonald triple layer steel wall art piece we had finished not long before.

“Sweet! I clear out the truck and grab the backyard easel!”

We hopped in the truck, and were off.

Five minutes up the road as we began driving through Badrock canyon the clouds began to break up. By the time we got to Hungry Horse we had blue skies and sunshine!

We had so much fun just hanging out by the lake shore, taking pictures, sun on our faces, enjoying the stunning view that never gets old.

We are grateful everyday to call Montana home. It is a truly magical place.

We even made a little 10 minute slow art video from that day on the shore of Lake McDonald, gentle waves washing up on the rock shore, clouds dancing across the snow covered peaks. Check out the full slow art video here.

Thank you so much for being here and checking out our work. We appreciate you so much! If you like this piece or would like something similar we would love to work with you to create a little bit of Montana mountain magic for your home, business or space.
